Arif Kazmi among Elected Democrat Officers

North Phoenix resident and former Senate candidate Judy Kennedy was elected chair of the Maricopa County Democratic Party at a reorganization meeting Saturday, December 4. Kennedy stepped into the leadership role replacing Sam Wercinski, who held the seat for the past two years. Kennedy had served as the first vice chair.

Also elected to the leadership team were: Arif Kazmi, first vice chair; Lew Howell, second vice chair; Gloria Daley, secretary; Beth Newman, treasurer; and John Gomez, sergeant at arms.
"The Democratic community in Maricopa County will embrace the opportunity and accept the responsibility to strengthen our grass-roots effort,” Ms. Kennedy said. “Our goal is active, committed Democrats in every neighborhood and precinct in the county.”

State Party Chairman Jim Pederson spoke about the importance the East Valley voters will play in 2006 victories.
