Melissa Bean Joins Congressional Pakistan Caucus

Washington, DC: Congresswoman Bean came into contact with her Pakistani-American constituents on November 17 “A Day on the Hill” meeting with Dr. Wasiullah Khan and Faisal J Khan to discuss earthquake relief in Pakistan. Her subsequent co-sponsorship of House Resolution 561 represented her commitment to supporting Pakistan in a time of such great loss and tragedy.
PAL-C Executive Director Aisha Chapra met with Congresswoman Bean’s office last week, inviting her to join the Congressional Pakistan Caucus. PAL-C director Mr. Mossadaq Chughtai remarked on the occasion, “This is a testament of both the power of political mobilization at the community level and PAL-C’s effectiveness in channeling the community’s efforts in building a long lasting commitment through the Congressional Pakistan Caucus. As Pakistani-Americans we must prioritize establishing and building relationships with our members of Congress.”
Serving her first term as US Representative from Illinois, Congresswoman Bean brings to the House 20 years of experience in the field of business.
Congresswoman Bean serves on the House Financial Services Committee, including the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises and the Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade and Technology.
