Azra Riaz and Salamat Ali Give Splendid Performance

Diamond Bar, CA: Azra Riaz and Salamat Ali seemed to cast a spell on the audience at the Diamond Palace on April 28 when they performed at a function organized by Friends of Pakistan. and Khan Entertainment Group. The entrancing husband-and-wife team sang a number of popular ghazals and songs and were warmly applauded by an appreciative audience.

Salamat Ali is one of the finest classical singers in the Pakistani music industry today and he furnished proof of his talent and promise that evening. Azra was equally impressive. The period when she was growing up belonged to Mehdi Hasan and she is manifestly inclined to excel in singing ghazals. She is currently the chairperson of the Arts Council Music Academy.
Mr. Sarfraz Khan, CEO of Khan Construction Company, Inc. introduced the two artists and also took the opportunity to explain the aims and objectives of Friends of Pakistan, an organization that seeks to serve as a bridge between Pakistani Americans and various mainstream groups. It arranges national, cultural events to promote art, music, literature and other cultural aspects of Pakistan life. Friends of Pakistan has also made sincere strivings to present the Pakistan perspective on various issues.
The highly entertaining program was thoroughly enjoyed by the gathering.
