East Bay Islamic Center Set on Fire

Antioch, CA: The East Bay Islamic Center of Antioch, California, was set on fire in the early hours of Monday. The neighbors called for help and the fire was brought under control. However, it caused considerable damage to the building.
Mr. Abdur Rehman, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Center, told Pakistan Link that the fire seems to be the result of a hate crime. He also informed that about six months back too shooting took place at the Center and the FBI was called. The investigations however remained inconclusive.
Mr Rehman informed that the local media and officials have been very helpful and cooperative. The city officials have promised the Center management to provide a place for prayers till such time that necessary repairs have been carried out and the Center is fully operational again.
