Pakistani-American Running for County Chief

Washington, DC: Agha Afzal, a Pakistan Muslim League (PML) leader from New Jersey, is running on a Republican ticket for the post of Jersey City county executive.
A county executive heads the executive branch of government in a county, which is a sub-unit of regional self-government within a sovereign jurisdiction. Its Pakistani equivalent is district.
Agha Afzal, former executive director of the Hudson County Republican Party, is currently the City Commissioner of the Development Agency of Jersey. He served as honorary deputy mayor of Jersey City in year 2004-2005 and has helped construct shelter homes for battered and needy women in Jersey City.
He hails from Sahiwal.
