Karachi Club’s Haleem Party Draws Huge Crowd

Glimpses of the Haleem Party

In keeping with its past tradition, the Karachi Club hosted a Haleem party on April 6 at the Garden Grove Park. The number of community members who turned up to enjoy the Club’s hospitality far exceeded that in the past and each and every individual freely mixed with others to fully enjoy the haleem served on the occasion.  
Arif Abbas and Perwez Khan who have acquired the art of making Haleem gave a good account of themselves this year too.  Thanks to their efforts and expertise the haleem  this year was superbly tasty and served to the Karachi Club guests who eagerly await the yearly feast.
Addressing a gathering of 1500 enthusiastic guests, Karachi Club President Samin Faruqi thanked everyone for coming. Thanking the LA unit members for the hard work done, he reiterated MQM's ideology in promoting community empowerment. The gathering recited Surah- e-Fateha for the late Benazir Bhutto who died in a bomb attack. The attack not only strikes a hammer blow against Pakistan's painful attempts to restore democratic rule, but also marks a significant victory for religious hardliners who want to destroy Islamabad's uneasy, but crucial alliance with the West.
The event was attended by acting MQM Central Organizer, Kamal Zafar, Unit In-charge, members Los Angeles Unit, workers, supporters and members of the Haq Parast community in Los Angeles. It was also attended by a large number of people from a cross-section of the Pakistani community, including doctors, engineers, attorneys, businessmen, and media representatives.
Karachi Club and MQM LA express their profound appreciation of the support extended by Noorani Restaurant, Al Watan Restaurant, and Bilal Restaurant.
Considering the massive turnout at the Haleem party, Kamal Zafar, Central Organizer, hinted at the change of venue of the event to a more spacious one in the future. The following were actively associated in organizing the Haleem party:
