Eid ul Adha in Phoenix
By Yousuf Bhuvad

While millions of Muslims marked the zenith of annual Hajj in Saudi Arabia , seven thousand plus gathered in the metropolitan Phoenix, the Arizona valley of the Sun, December 19th to commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail, known as the Eid-ul-Adha event.
The major prayer gathering was held at the Phoenix Convention Center in the downtown Phoenix area. The gathering exemplified the diversity of the Muslim population in the valley that has grown steadily over the years. After the prayers, friends and families greeted one another in the true spirit of love and brotherhood. Some returned to work while others headed home to spend Eid with their family. Many rushed to slaughter houses to perform the sacrifice of a livestock in the Baqra Eid tradition.
The Pakistani community, as usual, had an outstanding role in arranging the largest Eid gathering in Phoenix.
