Urdu Writers Society Honors Majid Khalil

Mr Majid Khalil, well-known naatiya poet of Pakistan, was paid rich tributes at a recent function organized by the Urdu Writers Society (UWS) at the Shahnawaz Restaurant.
The proceedings began with a sumptuous dinner to which prominent members of the community were invited. Mr Arif Mansuri, Vice President of the Urdu Writers Society and Managing Editor of Pakistan Link, was the emcee of the evening. He invited prominent community member Mr Hadi Raza Khan to chair the function.
UWS President Mr Irfan Murtaza presented a paper highlighting the literary contributions of Mr Majid Khalil. He was joined by Mr Hadi Raza Khan, Mr Saleem Hai and Mr Abubakr Vakil in presenting an award to the gifted poet. Mr Khalil then addressed the gathering.
A mushaira marked the concluding session of the evening. Local poets, including Mr Zafar Abbas, Mr Wasi Ahsan Naqqash, Mr Irfan Murtaza, Ms Asifa Nishat, Mr Shamim Rijz and Mr Arif Imam presented their kalam on the occasion to the delight of the audience. Throughout the evening Mr Mansuri’s witty and humorous remarks had an enlivening influence on the proceedings.
