Peshawar Engineering University and University of Maryland Sign Agreements

Glimpses of the signing ceremony

On April 28 a ceremony was held at the University of Maryland (UMD) to sign two agreements to facilitate academic linkage and launch staff development programs between the NWFP University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar (UET Peshawar) and  the University of Maryland (UMD). A high level delegation of UET Peshawar had come from Pakistan to sign the agreements.
The agreements were negotiated and finalized with the help and effort of the Pakistani Americans Cultural and Educational Society (PACES), Alexandria, VA. The agreements provide for exchange and visits of faculty members for teaching and research purposes. Approximately 30 teachers of UET Peshawar will be trained at MS and PhD levels at the UMD under the MOU for staff development program. A provision has also been made to sign any specific agreement if needed in future.
It will be recalled that PACES established a similar linkage program with George Washington University in November, 2007. “We are negotiating two other university linkages and hope (they) would be finalized soon,” said Dr. Muhammad Munir of PACES.
