California Drug Card to Provide Free Prescription Drug Cards to Residents Of California

Orange, CA: A press release received via email states: The California Drug Card Program has announced  that it will distribute free discount prescription drug cards to the residents of California . Everyone is eligible to participate in the California Drug Card Program. There are no income or membership restrictions, no age limit, and no applications to fill out. California residents can receive savings of up to 75 percent (savings average around 30 percent) at more than 50,000 national and regional pharmacies. Participating pharmacies in California include CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Albertson’s, K-Mart, Sav-on and Longs Drug Store as well as thousands of independent pharmacies.  
 “This initiative is one way to help guarantee uninsured and underinsured people are able to afford their medications and improve their lives.” said Edward Brown, California Rx Card Program Director. “This program has created nearly $100 million in prescription savings for its members around the country.  It is open to everyone and we are hopeful the program will find continued success in California.”
As a resident of California, you can download your free prescription drug card by visiting www.californiarxcard.com. Anyone not able to access the website, or otherwise obtain a member card, can visit any of the participating pharmacy locations in California.  
The California Drug Card Program was launched to help the uninsured and underinsured people of California afford their prescription medications. However, the program can also be used by people who have health insurance coverage with limited or zero prescription benefits, which is common in many health savings accounts and high-deductible health plans. Additionally, people who have prescription coverage can use this program for non-formulary or non-covered drugs.
The California Drug Card can also be used by individuals who do not qualify for publicly funded programs, such as Medicaid and Medicare.  It can also be used by people who receive their medicines through charity care providers such as 340B. This program even covers some pet medications that are available at the participating pharmacies.
You can search for drug pricing and participating pharmacies at www.californiarxcard.com. The card is pre-activated and can be used at any participating pharmacy. Most major pharmacies, as well as thousands of independent pharmacies, accept the card. CVS Pharmacy has been named the preferred pharmacy for the program.
