AMT Initiative  at the Green Party National Convention

Chicago, IL: The American Muslim Taskforce on Civil Rights and Elections (AMT) held a successful hospitality booth at the Green Party National Convention in Chicago, Illinois. Dozens of Green Party delegates , including David Webb, Green Party candidate for President in 2004, and Cynthia McKinney, Green Party presidential candidate for 2008, joined AMT representatives in detailed discussions about civil liberties, universal health care, immigration, education, environment, and end to war on Iraq, and establishment of an independent Palestinian State.  Green Party delegates included at least four Muslims.
"Everything that I would have liked to say as a concerned Muslim was said by Cynthia Akhtar told Cynthia McKinney, "We are here because twenty-two percent of our community members support the Green Party.  We are here to learn from you how to better translate that support into actual registered members, delegates, elected officials, and leaders in the Green Party."
