The Pakistan Independence Day was celebrated by hundreds of emotionally charged Pakistanis at the Sacramento State University in Sacramento.
The celebrations began with tilawat-e-Qur'an-e-Majeed. After recitation of a passage from the Holy Book, Choudry Bashir, President of Pakistan Association of Greater Sacramento, delivered his welcome address and handed over the stage to Rana Kamran, stage secretary.
The Pakistani and American national anthems were then played. Children took the center stage when the Pakistani national anthem was played and lead the audience. Tariq Tafu and Tassawur Khanam entertained the crowd before Abrar-Ul-Haq took over. The crowd had then swelled to approximate  to 3,000.
The event coordinators were:  Pakistani American Association of  Greater Sacramentom President Choudry Bashir, Anwar Rashid, Sabir, Rana Kamran, Shahid Saleemi, and Dr. Amir.
The following day, Abrar-Ul-Haq held a fundraising dinner for his Sahara Association at the Kabob Palace in Sacramento. The dinner was attended by 200 supporters and helped Abrar raise $71,000.
