The ground-breaking ceremony of Masjidae Qabae, a project of the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley, was performed on August 30, 2008 at an impressive ceremony. A large number of community members, office bearers of the Islamic Center, City Mayor, Councilmen, and representatives of the Sheriff Department attended the ceremony.

The Masjid and the two-story  school will be spread over 34,700 square feet and will be built at a total cost of 4.5 billion dollars. It is hoped the construction work would be completed within the next three years.

The Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley has played an important role as a religious institution in the last 25 years. The ground-breaking ceremony of the masjid marks an extension in its useful services and was successfully undertaken thanks to the sustained strivings of  Majlisae Shuraa President Dr Aleem Syed, Vice President Abu Bakr Vakil, Secretary Asharaf Jakwani, Joint Secretary Makhdoom Husain, Treasurer Rashid Dadabhai, Junior Treasurer Sharif Bazullah, Executive Member Dr Arif Rizwi, Director Religious Affairs Abul Hatim, Chairman Building Committee Syed Afzal Husain Ghayas Khan, Ata Hai, Afzal Khan, Abrar Syed, Zahid Karim, and Bilal Bangi.
