Protest against Swat Girl’s Flogging in LA

On Sunday, April 5 2009, 35 MQM Los Angeles supporters gathered in front of the Pakistan Consulate General to protest the flogging of a young girl by the Taliban in Swat.

Prominent among the protestors on the Black Day was a group of women and children who appeared to have been especially affected by this horrific act of violence.

According to a press release, “Our supporters stood with signs in silent protest in an effort to raise awareness of the injustices that are taking place in Pakistan.

“The local media were present to document the event and conducted nterviews with several supporters. Less well known in America is the extent to which the Taliban have taken control over certain regions of the country. We plan on fighting these injustices until we have rid our homeland of terrorists and restored Pakistan to a state of peace and prosperity.

“We were very fortunate to be joined by Mr. Kamal Zafar, Central Organizer MQM USA and Mr. Wasim Zaidi, Member of Central Organizing Committee,” the press release concluded.
