COPAA Elects Adnan Khan as its New President

The Council of Pakistan American Affairs (COPAA) has congratulated and extended its warm welcome to the newly elected President Mr. Adnan Khan.

A press release issued by the Council states: “The COPAA Board of Directors unanimously elected him the President for a two-year term.

The outgoing President of COPPA, Dr. Razaq Chaudhry, announced the election of the new President at a luncheon hosted at Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills on December 28, 08. At this very formal luncheon, the current full Board of Directors and their spouses, the former COPAA Presidents, including Mr. Bob Din, Mr. Ahmed Ali and Dr. Mansoor Shah, the Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, Syed Ibne Abbas, and the representatives of the local Press were invited. Dr. Chaudhry welcomed the new President and assured him of the Board’s full support. He further pointed out to the Board that Mr. Khan is a very energetic and talented individual and under his dynamic leadership COPAA will continue to strive to achieve its mission of playing a major role in strengthening the bilateral US-Pakistan relations.  
“While welcoming the new President, Dr. Razaq Chaudhry highlighted some of the achievements of COPAA over the last couple of years; the most notable accomplishments being funding of an Adjunct Fellowship at the Pacific Council on International Policy, a Los Angles based think-tank, and the COPAA Board’s visit to Washington DC in July 2008 that included a visit with the Assistant Secretary of State, Ambassador Richard Boucher, at the State Department, meeting with Congressman Howard Berman and the former US Ambassador to Pakistan, Ms. Wendy Chamberlin.
“In his acceptance speech the new President Mr. Khan praised Dr. Razaq Chaudhry for achieving crucial milestones during his tenure as the President. Mr. Adnan Khan thanked and praised his predecessor for his outstanding contributions to the organization and to the Pakistani-American community.
“Mr. Adnan Khan also pledged to lead COPAA with a renewed sense of ambition and dedication to ensure advancement of the cause of COPAA’s mission and objectives.”
The Council of Pakistan American Affairs was established in the mid-90's. Its major aim is to assist US elected officials and policy makers to have a better understanding of issues of vital interest to Pakistan that would ultimately lead to strong bilateral relations between the USA and Pakistan.
