Polish Eaglets over Pakistan to Be Screened on May 2

 

Los Angeles , CA: Polish American Film Society and Director of Polish Film Festival, Los Angeles, Mr. Vladek Juszkiewicz invited Dr. Muhammad Khalid Ejaz, Acting Consul General, as guest of honor at the Opening Festival and Presentation Award Ceremony at the Egyptian Theatre, Hollywood on 20 April, 2010.

On the occasion Dr. Ejaz said that the screening of the documentary “Polish Eaglets over Pakistan” by the Polish American Film Society was the most welcome event as the film projected Pakistan, its geography and people in a fascinating manner. He also appreciated the professionalism and dedication of Brigadier General Turowicz who had served Pakistan Air Force and died in Pakistan. He was buried in Karachi. His wife was still living in Karachi.

Dr. Ejaz reminded the exemplary role played by Pakistan as a bulwark against communism in the Cold War era. He recalled that in those days due to censorship in Poland it was prohibited to publish anything about Brigadier General Gurowicz, The President of Pakistan Field Marshal Ayub Khan decorated him and granted him Pakistani citizenship.

The solidarity shown by the Consulate General of Pakistan, Los Angeles with the Polish community was appreciated by an audience of around 500 people at the Polish Film Festival inaugural ceremony.

The film “Polish Eaglets over Pakistan” will be screened on May 2, 2010 at the Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Blvd,, Hollywood, CA-90028.
