Award for Dr Altaf Hussain Hashmi

Dr. Altaf Hussain Hashmi has been awarded “Sitara-e- Imtiaz” by the Government of Pakistan in recognition of his valuable services in the field of medicine. He is the uncle of well-known Southern California’s community member Zulfi Engineer and Saba Engineer.
Dr Hashmi was born on 10th December 1954. He joined the Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation (SIUT), Karachi in October 1980. During his association with SIUT he obtained Membership Diploma in General Surgery and Masters of Urology in 1991. He also obtained higher training in General Urology and Kidney Transplantation at the Institute of Urology, London and Royal Free Hospital, London. In 1995 he received urological cancer surgery training in Paris.
At present he is working at SIUT as Professor of Urology and Transplantation. He is also a trustee of the Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation Trust.
