Biden Apprised of Pakistan’s Need for Access to US Markets

Former federal minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiquimet Mr. Joe Biden, Vice President of America, in Maryland the other day. The meeting took place at a gathering organized by the Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley for members of the Democratic Party.

Dr Siddiqui, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of MQM North America, received a special invitation to attend the meeting. Vice President Biden was the guest of honor at the meeting.

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui had a one-to-one exchange of views with Mr Biden. Dr. Siddiqui urged the Vice President to understand Pakistan’s sacrifices in the struggle against extremism. The Patron-in-Chief also told the VP that financial assistance alone cannot usher any results unless it is accompanied by enhanced bilateral trade between the two countries. He stressed the need for free access of Pakistani products to the American markets. The Vice President reassured Dr Siddiqui that the US Government very clearly understands the needs of Pakistan and its people and also appreciates the sacrifices Pakistan and its people have made in the war against terrorism.

Mr. Biden hoped trade ties between the two countries will be further strengthened in the near future. The Patron-in Chief MQM North America Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui also apprised the VP of the stance of MQM on the terrorism in Pakistan and its efforts against it. He also conveyed a goodwill message of Mr. Altaf Hussain to Mr. Biden.

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui also met with the Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley and the Mayor of Baltimore Stephanie Rawlings.
