Glimpses of the First Ping Pong Tournament at the Islamic Center of Yorba Linda

A Ping Pong Tournament was held at the Islamic Center of Yorba Linda on Saturday, November 6. Mayor John Anderson of Yorba Linda and Council Woman Nancy Rickel were the chief guests.

Community member Baber Saghir delivered a speech welcoming the mayor and the council woman. Mayor Anderson also addressed the community and praised the efforts of the Islamic Center of Yorba Linda. He thanked everyone for their support in the recent election.

After the question-and-answers session, Mr. Furuk Bashir, popular community member, presented a copy of the Holy Qur’an to Mayor Anderson and Council Woman Nancy Rickel. Event committee member Dawar Naqvi mentioned some current and future events taking place at the Islamic Center including Free Health Fair, Free Coaching Center and a field trip.

An award ceremony was held at the Center on Friday November 12. Mr. Furuk Bashir praised the efforts of the event committee and the organizers for arranging the tournament. He also requested the Imam of the Masjid, Hafiz Patel, to distribute prizes among the top three players. Ejaz Ahmed won the table tennis tournament. Hafeez Lakhani won the second position and Dawar Naqvi got the third place.
