A fundraiser for the Pakistani flood victims was held at the Long Beach Marriott on Sunday, August 22. It was sponsored by Islamic Relief and Long Beach Marriott and organized by Mohammad Raghib and Hamid Raza.

A large number of people attended the fundraiser and raised $28,000 for the flood victims.

The amount was donated to Islamic Relief, a non-profit organization that is active in Pakistan with its 500-strong volunteer team, to provide relief and help to the flood victims.

Sheikh Jalil of Islamic Relief came to the podium and collected over $28,000 in donations. A child aged between 4-6 got up all by himself, picked up an empty box, and went from table to table to collect $70. He took the money to Mohammad Raghib and with a big smile on his face said, “I want to donate this money for the victims”. Mr. Raghib along with every one who heard the child, was shocked by the child’s thoughtfulness and concern for the flood victims.

Dinner was catered by Merhaba Restaurant and greatly enjoyed by the attendees of the fundraiser.
