Ten Years after 911: Call for Submissions

Friends of South Asia’s 7th Annual Literary Evening
Theme for 2011: Ten years after 911
Where: Koret Auditorium, San Francisco Public Library, 100 Larkin St., San Francisco
When: September 11, 2011, 1 pm

Friends of South Asia (FOSA) is commemorating the tenth anniversary of 9/11 by taking a comprehensive view of the last ten years, says an announcement. It adds:   We saw ghastly and cowardly terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.  But since then, the insanity has only grown. The war on terror  and the reaction to it has directly or indirectly affected all of South Asia, and affected South Asia more than any other part of the globe.
South Asian writers and poets have a distinctive reaction to this decade of insanity in which tens of thousands of people and almost three thousand US troops have been killed in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
FOSA invites you to contribute work and participate in the conversation about ‘Ten Years of Terror.' We invite literary works as:
Stories - 800 words or less
Non-fiction - 800 words or less
Spoken word or poetry: 5 minutes

Performance arts: 10 min (15 min. for a skit involving more than two  actors)

In our selection we will attempt to include many languages.  You are encouraged to submit in any South Asian language including English. Audience participation will also be encouraged.

Submissions due by: August 28, 2011
