In Remembrance of Nadira Samad Khan
ByDr Abdul Ahad Khan

We deeply mourn the sad demise of our beloved mother Nadira Samad Khan, known to everybody as "Nadira Apa". She left all of us for her heavenly abode on January 1st, 2011. She was born in Hyderabad Deccan and migrated to Karachi with her husband Abdul Samad Khan in 1953. They initially lived at Britto Road in Karachi and then moved to Bahadurabad where they helped people who migrated from Hyderabad Deccan with food and lodging until they got on their feet.

She was a loving, friendly, and very social person with a great, inspiring personality. She would donate generously to poor people, and would go to poor areas of new Karachi to distribute food, clothing, money, and books. She participated actively in all family weddings and gatherings; she was always willing to give a helping hand.

She will always be in our prayers and will be fondly remembered by her sons Dr. Abdul Ahad Khan, Dr. Abdul Rab Khan, Abdul Baqar Khan, Abdul Ali Khan, her daughter Aneela Khan, twelve grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

May Allah grant her soul eternal peace and a place in Jannah. (Ameen)

(Editor adds: Nadira Apa’s demise will be mourned not only by her immediate family members but also by distant relatives like me. She was closely related to my wife and I came to know her after my marriage with Fauzia. Nadira Apa conducted our wedding ceremonies with becoming propriety and impressed everyone with her kind disposition, grace and poise. I have vivid recollections of her impeccable behavior to this day.

May her soul rest in peace and God grant the bereaved family fortitude and courage to bear the loss. Ameen.)
