8fourteen's Fashion Show Features
Renowned Designer MariaB

On Saturday June 25th 2011, 8fourteen held its first charity fashion show at a private residence in West Covina. The proceeds from the show were donated towards the foundation of a 40-station computer lab at the SMB Fatima Jinnah Girls School in Karachi, Pakistan, a project of Shehzad Roy's charitable foundation, Zindagi Trust.

The master of ceremonies of the evening was Samia Khan and Robert Wittenberg. Their charisma brought vibrancy to the incredible fashion show.

The show displayed Maria B's flagship bridal line along with formal and semi-formal attire for both men's and women's wear.

One of the models at the event was seemingly impressed by Maria's collection. "I loved the intricate detail in each of the clothes; every outfit seemed to portray a confident, sophisticated elegance," said Haley Ralston.

Ralston was also impressed at the turnout of the event and how it had been organized. The highlight of the evening for Ralston was "sharing the stage with Maria B while the audience gave a standing ovation."

Besides fashion segments, standup comedian, KT Tatara entertained the crowd with his performance setting a jovial mood for the evening. Tatara left the over 200-attendees roaring in laughter with his scintillating display.

"I think he (Tatara) got the crowd's attention and brought the energy to start the show in the right way," said Aisha Razzak, one of the attendees.

Finally the audience was serenaded by singer Pree Mayal.

The event was organized by team 8fourteen, who have been working diligently to arrange the show and raise funds for the girls school in Pakistan. 8fourteen left quite a lasting impression on the audience.

“The Fashion show was my first glimpse of this organization and what they were all about, and I must say I was pretty impressed," said Razzak.

The purpose of the show was to bring together the community onto the social scene while also contributing to a charitable cause. Zindagi Trust was 8fourteen's charitable partner and sponsor for the event.

Zindagi Trust is a US-registered non-profit (501c) organization based on the East Coast as well as in Pakistan.  The Trust was founded by Pakistani Pop star Shehzad Roy.

8fourteen has been in existence since October, 2010 and the organization intends planning similar events in the near future to promote Pakistan, its people and cultural heritage.
