Urdu Markaz International, Inc. Holds Memorable Mushaira

In keeping with its past traditions Urdu Markaz International, Inc. held its annual international mushaira on October 6, 2012 at the sprawling Momin Lodge, Torrance. Community members who look forward to attending the literary concourse turned up in large numbers this year too to hear the kalam of their favorite poets.

The guest poets who traveled long distances to participate in the mushaira included Nida Fazli (India), Manzar Bhopali (India), Zahid Fakhree (Pakistan), Khalid Irfan (New York), Wasi Shah (Pakistan), Mustafa Shahab (UK) and Abidullah Ghazi (Chicago). A select group of local poets also presented their work. Naiyar Aapa, Zihanat Hussain, Qazi Asad, Sufi Shafiq, Nayyar Alam, Riffat Ahmed, S. Aqil Husain and Tabish Khanzada made impeccable arrangements to make the mushaira a memorable event. The audience was visibly enthralled by the lively proceedings and thoroughly enjoyed the kalam of the poets. It was a delightful experience for all and sundry and the organizers - Naiyar Aapa et. al – deservedly earned the heartfelt gratitude of the gathering.
