MPAC to Honor CG Riffat Masood

Los Angeles, CA: The Muslim Public Affairs Council has announced it will honor the Consul General of Pakistan, Riffat Masood, with the Community Leadership Award at its 12th Annual Convention and Banquet on December 15 in Pasadena, CA.

Masood is an exemplary figure in Los Angeles who has worked tirelessly to bring communities together. Her work to highlight the Pakistani American community has resulted in how communities are perceived and what can be done to improve perceptions, says a Press Release.

MPAC presents its annual Community Leadership Awards to individuals and organizations who promote the Islamic values of mercy, justice, service and equality for all. Past recipients have included Human Rights Watch, the White House Office of Public Engagement, the UMMA Clinic and the ILM Foundation.

“For several years, MPAC has been working with Consul General Masood,” said MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati. “Addressing the concerns of a community is never easy, and Consul General Masood accomplishes this goal with enthusiasm and grace. Her work has inspired many, including several young leaders to continue her mission of bringing communities together.”

Masood joined the Civil Services of Pakistan in October 1984 which focused on affairs inside Pakistan. She served in the Ministry of Information, in the External Publicity Wing for two-and-a-half years. In July1987, she joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan as a probationer and has served in various capacities.

After several Pakistan government positions, Masood took on the role of Consul General of Pakistan to Los Angeles MPAC has been a trendsetter in honoring and working with visionaries and luminaries. This year’s 12th Annual Convention on Saturday, Dec. 15, will be no different.
