By Abdus Sattar Ghazali

The Eid-e-Milad un Nabi event of March 16 at the Mehran Restaurant in Newark drew a large number of devotees. The Milad, sponsored by prominent ladies of the Bay Area, was addressed by prominent religious speaker, Dr Amir Liaquat who fascinated the audience with his God-gifted oratory.

Seema Saeed, main organizer of the event, welcomed the guests. Taimur Baber was MC of the program which continued for more than three hours.

Dr Amir Liaquat is not only an excellent speaker but also a leading Naat Khawan. He captivated the audience with popular Naats. At the end he led the audience in reciting the tradition "salam."

Seema Saeed thanked all the supporters who made the Milad successful. She particularly thanked Ali Saeed of Mazer Total Supply, Al Mitra Baig, Ishrat Baber, Firdos Kamran and Nero Ram for their support. Zulqarnain Khan provided the sound system while stage decoration was arranged by Saira and Asif of Jannat Decor. Seema also thanked Shahab Siddiqui, proprietor of Mehran Restaurant, for supporting the event.

Mehmooda Sultana Foundation Trust: Dr. Liaquat screened a short video about the activities of the Mehmooda Sultana Foundation Trust, named after her late mother to help the poor and the needy. The videos showed MSF's relief work in various fields.

Some of the charity projects the MSFT Trust has launched include:

. Support poor and deserving girls in getting married. The Trust helps them by arranging dowry which includes furniture, household items and other necessities; often the Trust bears expenses for hosting receptions for the guests.

. Help patients to get the best treatment and provide medicine for proper health facilities.

. Support the rehabilitation of those affected by natural tragedies by providing them temporary abodes like tents, beds, blankets and edibles.

The Mahmooda Sulatna Foundation Trust is now registered in the USA to enable the Pakistanis and others to help the underprivileged and neglected people of Pakistan.

Dr Amir Liaquat appealed for donations for the MSFT. The audience responded to his call with generous donations.

This was Dr Liaquat's fourth visit to the Silicon Valley. He also addressed a Milad event at the Woodland Mosque.
