Glenn Greenwald will Be Keynote Speaker at CAIR-LA’s Annual Banquet

Anaheim, CA: The Council on American-Islamic Relations Greater Los Angeles area chapter is excited to announce that special guest investigative journalist  Glenn Greenwald  will be joining us as keynote speaker for CAIR-LA’s 17th annual banquet on Saturday, November 16, 2013, says a CAIR announcement. It adds:

Greenwald is an American political commentator, lawyer, columnist, blogger, and author, who frequently writes on civil liberties and US national security for The Guardian.
A former constitutional lawyer-turned-investigative journalist, Greenwald recently exposed the massive ongoing public surveillance program through a series of exclusive interviews with former NSA contractor  Edward Snowden . The former intelligence analyst leaked details of the program, known as PRISM, to the press in what is now known as one of the most significant leaks in US history. The events have since sparked a heated national debate over security, liberty and privacy concerns.
After attending law school at New York University, and practicing as a litigation attorney for over a decade, Greenwald chose to leave the firm he co-founded in order to pursue a career in political writing.
He has written numerous articles which have appeared in various prominent outlets including The Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and Salon.com, among others.
Additionally, Greenwald has written four books, three of which have been New York Times bestsellers: How Would a Patriot Act? (2006); A Tragic Legacy (2007); and With Liberty and Justice for Some: How the Law is Used to Destroy Equality and Protect the Powerful (2011).
