Irvine Premier League T10 Returns to Raise Funds for Irvine Schools

Irvine, CA: For the second year in a row, the Irvine Pakistani Parents Association (IPPA) has organized the Irvine Premier League T10 (IPL) Cricket Tournament. It is part of a lineup of charity events that the IPPA hosts each year to raise funds for Irvine schools, and specifically, the Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF).

On March 17, the unique cricket tournament’s grand finale will be held at one of Southern California’s most treasured landmarks, Angel Stadium – home of Angels baseball. The tournament which started February 23, features 12 teams battling it out over four weekends, playing the shortest and most entertaining format of the sport – tape ball ten over cricket.

The finale will feature a festive South Asian bazaar, comprising a variety of Pakistani/Indian vendors showcasing the latest clothing designs, jewelry and other products. Food vendors will also be on hand to help serve the very best of cuisine.

Also included in the entertainment will be Los Angeles Police Department’s “Fittest Cricketer Challenge” and MoneyGram’s “Biggest Arm (Longest throw) Contest.” For the first time in America, the fastest bowler will also be crowned as part of the search for the fastest bowler.

The final match is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm. The awards ceremony will immediately follow the conclusion of the final at 4:00 pm.

This certainly will be a rare opportunity to witness the birth sport of baseball played at one of baseball’s most admired stadiums – and all for a great cause – to raise funds for Irvine Schools.
