Pakistan Arts Council of Pacific Asia Museum presented an afternoon with award-winning historian and journalist, William Dalrymple  on April 28th. Mr. Dalrymple's  talk was followed by book-signing and a reception. The talk was part of Pacific Asia Museum's Authors on Asia Series. The event was cosponsored by the Levantine Cultural Center.

William Dalrymple delivers a masterful account of the infamous First Anglo-Afghan War in his book Return of a King: The Battle for Afghanistan, 1839-42, drawing striking similarities between the West’s first disastrous entanglement with Afghanistan and the situation today. With access to newly discovered primary sources from archives in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia and India — including a series of previously untranslated Afghan epic poems and biographies — the author gives us the most immediate and comprehensive account yet of the spectacular first battle for Afghanistan.
