Pakistani Co-invents Apple’s Latest Innovation

One of the seven men behind tech giant Apple’s latest innovation — Apple Pay — is a Pakistani named Ahmer Ali Khan who hails from Rawalpindi, Newsweek Pakistan said in a report published earlier this month.

Khan, 38, had moved to Silicon Valley in 2002 after graduating from the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and now lives in Milpitas, California, with his wife and two children, said the report.

The patent for Apple Pay, which was unveiled to the world by Apple CEO Tim Cook on September 9, was filed by Khan and six other co-inventors in February. It is due to be launched on October 20.

It “will forever change the way all of us buy things”, Cook had said at the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, where he also demoed Apply Pay.

The company introduced Apple Pay to let people use iPhone 6, Apple Watch or iPad as a wallet to pay in stores and apps in “an easy, secure and private way”.
