Shura Council Chairman’s Message on the Election of Mr Donald Trump

Garden Grove, CA: On Tuesday, November 8, 2016, Mr. Donald Trump was elected as the President-elect of the United States of America. We accept this outcome and the democratic process, and we hope and pray for peace and justice for all people.

This election season has been very contentious. Whatever our preferences may have been, we are pleased to hear the words of assurances from all sides that the process of transition will be orderly and smooth. We hope and pray for patience and understanding among all people.

Many minority communities, including Muslims, have been very concerned with some of the offensive and dangerous rhetoric used during the election campaign. We hope that President-elect Trump and his administration will calm the fears and remove the worries of Americans that feel marginalized, and concerned for their safety. Our country will flourish if justice is maintained and opportunities are provided to all people.

To the Muslim community, we remind everyone to keep your faith in Allah, and continue doing your good works of civic engagement, social justice, peace and security for all people. Allah is the best of planners, and he knows what is best for us. Muslims encompass the very best of America, and our community is a testament to that. We urge you to uplift your spirit, be thankful to Allah for all His blessings and increase your deeds of charity and kindness.

We ask Allah to bless this country, and allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy freedom, prosperity, equality, and justice.

Wa salaam. Sincerely,

DrMuzammil Siddiqi
