Eid Al Adha to Be Celebrated on September 1

Garden Grove, CA: “The Islamic Shura Council is pleased to announce that Eid Al Adha will be celebrated on Friday, September 1, 2017, following the day of Arafah, the most important day of the Hajj pilgrimage, on Thursday, August 31, 2017,” says Dr Muzammil Siddiqi, Chairman, Shura Council.
In a message announcing the celebration of Eid Al Adha, he observed: “It has been the Shura Council's tradition to observe Eid Al Adha in solidarity with the millions of Muslims from across the world commemorating the life and legacy of Prophet Ibrahim and his family on the day of Arafah during Hajj.
“We wish all of the pilgrims a blessed Hajj and urge Muslims to benefit from these sacred days by reading, reflecting and embracing the lessons of commitment and sacrifice from the life of Prophet Ibrahim and his family (may God bless all of them).
“The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘There is no deed that is better in the sight of Allah or more greatly rewarded than a good deed done in the (first) ten days of Al-Adha.’ Narrated by Al-Bukhari. So we should heed this hadith and engage in as many good deeds as we can.
“We wish you and your family the best in these blessed days to come.”
