Consulate General of Pakistan LA Organizes Kashmir Solidarity Day

Los Angeles, CA: On February 5, the Consulate General of Pakistan, Los Angeles organized Kashmir Solidarity Day to express solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir in their just struggle against the Indian occupation forces.
Prominent members of the Pakistani-American community, academia and students from UCLA, USC and other universities attended the event. Many Kashmiris hailing from Azad Jammu & Kashmir as well as Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir were also present at the event. Messages by the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day were read to the audience.
The highlight of the event was a live telephonic address of Ms Asia Andrabi, founder of Dukhtaraan-e-Millat organization, which is part of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, from Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In her address, she spoke of the atrocities committed by the Indian Security Forces on the defenseless and unarmed civilians of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and thanked the Government and people of Pakistan for supporting the Kashmir cause.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Abdul JabbarMemon said that the people and the government of Pakistan were with the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their just struggle for self-determination. He said that Pakistan will continue to give moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Other distinguished speakers who addressed the gathering included MsMahnoorUmair, President of the Pakistani Students Association, University of Southern California; MrWajahatDedmari, prominent Kashmiri leader from Indian Occupied Kashmir who is currently based in Los Angeles; Mr Irfan Murtaza, President of Urdu Writers Society of Northern America; MrArifZaffarMansuri, prominent businessman, journalist, publisher and host of The Mansuri Show on ARY News; Mr Adnan Khan, former President COPAA; MrWaqar Ali Khan, prominent media personality, host of Safeer-e-Pakistan Show on Geo TV and President of Pakistani-American Chambers of Commerce; Dr Muhammad Razzaq, former President of Council of Pakistani-American Affairs; and DrShoaib Patel, prominent community leader of Los Angeles. MrZaffar Abbas, prominent media person, poet, writer and Bureau Chief of Urdu Times was Master of the Ceremony. The speakers emphasized the need to highlight Indian violations of human rights in Kashmir and expressed satisfaction on the effective efforts made by the Government of Pakistan in this regard.
An exhibition of pictures depicting the beauty of Kashmir as well as the atrocities committed by the Indian occupational forces was also shown to the people in attendance. Two pictures regarding the children of Kashmir by the famous artist Mr Irfan Murtaza were also exhibited on the occasion. Towards the end, the guests were entertained to traditional Pakistani food.
