Fifth Annual Outreach Interfaith Iftar Dinner

On June 1st, 2017, Jamat-e-Masjidul Islam (Inglewood mosque), hosted its fifth annual Outreach Interfaith Iftar Dinner. It has been a very successful event each year and this year was no exception. This annual event is the brainchild of the mosque President Mr Javed Bava. His tireless efforts over the years have made this event a great success.
The event was well attended by the local community. Mr Ismail Keekeebhai was the emcee and performed his duties very well. Chairman of the Inglewood mosque, Mr Bholat made the opening remarks and focused on the theme of community outreach and equal treatment. President Javed Bava then spoke and stressed how important it is in the present circumstances for all communities and law enforcement to work together. SEveral representatives of various law enforcement agencies then addressed the community and highlighted community outreach as their focal point of discussion. They included: LAPD Police Commissioner, Matthew Johnson, Supervisor Custom Border Protection LAX, Bill Hicks, Department of Homeland Security, Courtney La Bau, Asst. Director FBI Los Angeles, Deirdre Fike, Special Agent In-charge Counter Terrorism FBI, Stephen Woolery, Chief of Police LAX, David Maggard, Chief of Police Inglewood, Mark Fronterotta, Chief of Police Hawthorne, Robert Fager, Deputy Chief of Police LAPD, Horace Frank. They also stressed that regardless of the political climate, the job of the law enforcement is to protect all people. Towards the end, Mr Javed Bava recognized Mr Adnan Khan, a past president of COPAA, for his collaborative efforts with him in arrangingthe event.
The event concluded with Maghrib prayers followed by dinner iftar - a feast for the guests and worshippers.
