PPP submits motion in NA against rise in crime in capital


ISLAMABAD: Expressing grave concern over the increase in crime rate in Islamabad the Pakistan People’s Party submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
This motion, moved by PPP lawmakers Abdul Sattar Bachani, Imran Laghari, Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Shazia Atta Mari and Begum Belum Hasnain urged that proceedings of the house be adjourned to discuss the urgent and serious matter about the massive rise of more than 30% in violent crimes in the capital territory including murder, gang rape, kidnapping for ransom, property, robbery etc. causing grave concern among the public. People are reluctant to go out in open due to the security concerns.
The party also submitted an adjournment motion regarding the concerns of the farmers due to trade with India. It is submitted by: Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Abdul Sattar Bachani, Syed Naveed Qamar, Ms. Shazia Atta Marri, Pir Noor Muhammad Shah, Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote, Mr. Imran Zafar Leghari and Nawab Muhammad Yousif Talpur. It pointed out that serious matter regarding the grave financial losses that our vegetable growers are facing as a result of import of fruits/vegetables from India. This is a matter of great concern as it is adversely affecting our agriculture sector.” Party through another submitted motion drew the attention of the house towards absence of key officers in Ministry of Health Services. “We would like to invite the attention of Minister for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination to a matter of urgent public importance regarding absence of key officers due to vacant posts in the Ministry resulting in non-implementation of various healthcare programs like the three year polio eradication plan, the maternal, newborn and child health project and others causing grave concern among public”, the motion noted.
