Morning Clory crew members arrive in Karachi

KARACHI: Four Pakistani crew members of the hijacked cargo vessel MT Morning Glory released from Libyan custody arrived on Saturday here.

Earlier Pakistani captain of the ship Mirza Noman Beg had arrived in Lahore, while the sixth Pakistani, Chief officer Ghufran Marghoob Ahmad is yet to be released by the Libyan authority.

The released crew of MT Morning Glory includes 6 Pakistanis, 6 Indians, 3 Sri Lankans, 2 Syrians, 2 Sudanis and 2 Eritreans.

Talking to media at the airport here, the crew termed their release and homecoming the result of the family members’ prayers and support of civil society, media and the government.

Those arrived here included MT Morning Glory second officer, Mehdi Shamsi, Syed Asif Hassan, Naikzada and Muhammad Irshad.

The family members and their friends gave them a hearty welcome by garlanding and hugging them on arrival here.
