Govt. to release 13 more Taliban prisoners

ISLAMABAD: The government and Taliban second direct talks expected in next two/three days, Geo News reported on Sunday.

The government had earlier announced that 13 Taliban commandos would be released, but for paving talks for peace 13 more Taliban to be freed prior to the second direct talks.

After presiding over a meeting between the government and Taliban liaison committees yesterday, Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan demanded from Taliban to free non-combatant and innocent captives reciprocating government gestures.

The delegation would be leaving in 2/3 days to convey the stance of the government to Taliban Shura.

Meanwhile, Taliban liaison committee member Professor Ibrahim Sunday said that he was hopeful that Taliban would reciprocate the government gestures. He that the talks making headway with the confidence building measures and added the dream for peace would be fulfilled with the success of talks.

Appreciating the government’s goodwill gestures, Maulana Samiul Huque said that we would also ask the Taliban to reciprocate by declaring permanent ceasefire. He said that in fact, the talks have not yet started, but for formal talks a congenial environment has prevailed.

Taliban on Friday had announced 10 days extension in ceasefire, following government announcement of the release of 19 Taliban prisoners.
