Thieves break into bank, get away with valuables in lockers
KARACHI: Thieves broke into a private bank and then its lockers and got away with valuables worth hundreds of thousands in Garden Area here on Sunday.
The theft took place on the night between Saturday and Sunday, as the looters took their time to cut the lockers open with the help of gas cutter. Later, they easily fled with the valuables in the dark of the night.
Most of the broken lockers belonged to citizens retired from services who had stashed their valuables and savings into what they had believed the safest place possible. The valuables represented the investment made through hard earned money by the senior citizens over a period of a lifetime.
The people whose lockers were looted gathered outside the bank and staged a protest demonstration. They demanded of the concerned authorities to make good the losses suffered by them as a result of the last night’s break-in.
