Pak-India dialogue policy to be finalised after Indian polls

Online

ISLAMABAD: The government will finalise the Pakistan-India dialogue policy after the forthcoming elections in India this month.
Sources said that the government has already worked on the Pakistan-India agenda after the new government assumes charge in India; and the dialogue policy would be finalised after the new government takes charge in New Delhi. The eight-point agenda would be focusing on Kashmir, Siachen, Sir Creek, Wooler Barrage and several other important issues.
It is significant to recall that talks were underway on composite dialogue before the removal of Nawaz Sharif government in October 1999. There was a time when Siachen issue was about to be resolved under the same agenda during the tenure of Pervez Musharraf. Later in November 2008, terrorist attack in Mumbai stopped the dialogue process. Sources further said in the upcoming two or three months the situation would clear following the change of government in India.
