Deadlock-like situation in peace talks: Prof Ibrahim

PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami’s Professor Ibrahim, who is a member of Taliban-proposed negotiating team, said on Friday there is a deadlock-like situation in talks between the government and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
He attributed the deadlock to silence from the two sides, and said he could only pray that “talks start proceeding in the right direction”. He also said he was trying his best to make the talks successful.
Ibrahim, however, admitted that the army was not happy over the release of Taliban prisoners. But Maulana Samiul Haq denied the impression that the military was averse to such an action. He said the dialogue process had been delayed due to some petty issues, but hoped it would soon move forward.
