PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a resolution demanding the issuance of blue passports to its members and BPS-20 and 21 officers of the provincial government. Through another resolution, the assembly demanded the return of powers of the Drug Regulatory Authority (DRA) to the province. Shah Hussain, a member of the JUI-F, tabled the first resolution pertaining to demand of issuance of blue passports. Members from the opposition as well as treasury benches, including some ministers, had signed the resolution. Nighat Yasmin Orakzai, of the PPP, tabled the second joint resolution, demanding the federal government to return the power of the DRA to the province after the enactment of the 18th Constitutional Amendment. The assembly through another unanimous resolution demanded grant of three-year exemption on turnover and income tax to business community of the province. Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha, of the PML-N, tabled the joint resolution, stating that the prime minister had announced a three-year exemption from tax in 2012 but the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) declined to grant this facility to the businessmen of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The resolution asked the provincial government to recommend it to the federal government to extend the three-year tax exemptions from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2012 to the businessmen of the province.
