ISLAMABAD – Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry has said that evacuation of stranded Pakistanis from Yemen was the government's top priority.

In an interview with Radio Pakistan's Current Affairs Channel, he said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was directly supervising the whole rescue process. “Our naval ship will reach Aden on Thursday to bring back stranded Pakistanis while China's naval ship was also reaching Aden,” the foreign secretary said.

To a question, he said that Pakistan had historical relations with Saudi Arabia and Pakistani people respected Saudi Arabia immensely due to the presence of holy places. SAFRON Minister Lieutenant General (r) Abdul Qadir Baloch also said that the safety of Saudi Arabia's territorial integrity was the duty of all Muslim countries.

He said that Pakistan enjoyed good relations with Saudi Arabia for the last 60y years and the latter had always extended its support to the former. To another question, he said that Pakistan was not directly involved in the operation against Houthi rebels and the news regarding use of Pakistan's fighter aircrafts in Yemen operation was totally baseless.

Defence analyst Lieutenant General (r) Amjad Shoaib said that the government's initiatives for evacuation of Pakistanis stranded in Yemen were laudable.
