KARACHI – Pakistan People's Party (PPP) activists, belonging to Karachi, have urged the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf (PTI) to ensure complete implementation of the code of conduct regarding by-elections on a National Assembly Seat, NA-246.

Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister Rashid Hussain Rabbani alongwith Shahjehan Khan and Zulfiquar Ali Qaimkhani here on Friday said that both the parties must take required measures to prevent any untoward situation during their basic right of electioneering.

The PPP leader said that direct confrontation among the activists of the two rival parties must be averted and for this they must coordinate with each and particularly see that their rallies are not taken outat the same time from same venue.

They urged the PTI to ensure that the sanctity of the MQM's Martyrs monument is respected and also the fact be kept under consideration that the MQM had been constantly winning from the constitutency for past three decades and that its headquarters is also located in the NA-246 constituency, that makes the site all the more sensitive.

The two parties, they said must also keep into deep consideration that difference of was opinion is the basic norm democracy under which tolerance should prevail rather than misusing it as a tool for provoking the rivals, which might also prove an opportunity for those bent upon creating unrest.
