ISLAMABAD: An additional district and sessions court on Thursday issued non-bailable arrest warrants of former president Pervaiz Musharraf over his consistent absence in Ghazi Abdul Rasheed murder case.

Additional District and Sessions judge Wajid Ali Khan heard Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case and directed the police to present Musharraf on the next date of hearing. He also ordered to seize the surety bonds of his guarantors.

Musharraf’s new lawyer Malik Tahir Mehmood submitted the power of attorney, which was accepted by the court. He informed the court that his client could not appear before the court due to health issues and a nine-member medical board had been established in this regard.

He appealed to the court to exempt the former president from appearance until the completion of the report by the medical board.

Raising objection over the arguments, the counsel for Lal Masjid Tariq Asad said the medical board was established in the Bugti murder case and it had no link with Ghazi Abdul Rashid murder case.

After hearing the arguments, the court rejected the plea and issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former president. The court adjourned the hearing until April 27.
