Proposed bill against cyber crimes forwarded to NA body

ISLAMABAD: After extensive and continual deliberations over past so many weeks by the “Special Review Committee”, “Prevention of electronic crimes Bill 2015” has finally been sent to the National Assembly Standing Committee here on Thursday.

It is pertinent to mention here that this “Special Review Committee” was constituted on the direction of the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT & Telecom, comprising technical and legal experts and MNAs. This committee was mandated to review the proposed ‘Prevention of electronic crimes bill 2015’.

Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rahman said that this committee had minutely and thoroughly analysed this bill clause by clause in order to make it more compatible with the National Action Plan so that it could cater the growing needs of cyber-related challenges faced by the country in the wake of increasing terrorism phenomenon.

The minister said that it was no doubt a gigantic task and “we had to have lengthy sessions of discussions and multiple review meetings. Now, thank God this bill along with proposed amendments has been submitted before the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT & Telecom for further necessary action in this regard, she added.
