Law Ministry to table three bills on children, women’s welfare

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights will soon table three bills in the parliament for implicitly addressing the issues of children and women welfare while six draft bills have been shared with stakeholders for seeking their recommendations.

Criminal Law Amendment Bill, 2014 and National Commission on the Rights of the Child Bill, 2014 have been approved by the prime minister and will be tabled in the parliament soon. The Hindu Marriage Bill, 2014 has been forwarded to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for introducing it in the National Assembly, a Ministry for Law, Justice and Human Rights official told APP. Giving details of the legislation pertaining to child and women’s rights, he said the draft of Christian Marriage (Amendment) Bill, 2014 and Divorce (Amendment) Bill, 2014 had also been shared with stakeholders for their input. Similarly, Juvenile Justice System Bill, 2015 and ICT Child Protection and Welfare Bill, 2015 have also been circulated among stakeholders for seeking their views and recommendations, he added. Likewise draft Child Marriage Restraint Act, 2014 and Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2014 have also been circulated among stakeholders for their opinion whereas the Draft Bill for Provincial Commission on the Status of Women in Balochistan is in process with the Law Department.
