Evacuation of Pakistanis from Yemen concludes: FO

ISLAMABAD: The emergency evacuation of Pakistanis stranded in Yemen concluded on April 7, Foreign Office said in a statement.

A FO statement said 1,019 Pakistanis had been evacuated during the last ten days from Yemen via special flights, navy ships and through land from Oman.

According to the FO 100-150 Pakistanis remained in Yemen with the majority of them wishing to stay in the country out of their choice.

A press release on the Foreign Ministry’s website said there were around 3,000 Pakistanis residing in Yemen before the current crisis. In response to various advisories sent by the mission in the wake of the evolving security situation community members started leaving Yemen gradually and only around 1,200 Pakistanis remained in the country when airstrikes by GCC coalition commenced.
