Pakistan protests killing of five nationals in Afghanistan
INP

ISLAMABAD - The Afghan Deputy Head of Mission was called to Foreign Office on Friday and handed over a Demarche, conveying Pakistan’s serious concern over the brutal killing of five Pakistani nationals in Afghanistan.

Government of Afghanistan has been requested to hold an investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice, said FO spokesperson Tasneem Aslam. She also conveyed deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims. Bullet-riddled bodies of five Pakistanis, who were kidnapped in Afghanistan about two months back and killed a few days ago, were handed over to Pakistani officials at Torkham border post on Wednesday. Relatives of the deceased had said that gunmen kidnapped nine Pakistanis, belonging to the Charsadda district, in Mamand area of Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province about two months ago.

One of the kidnapped men, Lehaz Gul, was later freed, apparently because he was too old, they said. The whereabouts of two other missing men is still not known.
