PTI announces change of venue for Karachi rally

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate for NA-246 by polls, Imran Ismail Saturday announced a change of venue for the party’s public rally scheduled for April 19.

“Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will stage its rally on Shahra-e-Pakistan (in the same constituency) which will be addressed by Imran Khan,” Imran Ismail said while addressing a press conference here, adding the decision to change the venue was made by keeping in view the participants convenience.

He said PTI could organize its program in Jinnah Ground but since all the routes leading to the venue are very narrow, the participants could have faced difficulties as they would have dispersed at the conclusion of the rally.

He said Imran Khan will come to Karachi on April 18 and address the PTI rally the next day.

Ismail said his party has requested the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to withdraw its candidate in PTI’s favour.

However, he said, PTI was not in need of any kind of help from any party including MQM in connection with the upcoming elections in NA-246.

“PTI would also fight local bodies elections in Karachi,” he announced.
