Killing of Pakistani nationals : Demarche handed over to Afghan deputy head of mission

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday strongly protested the killing of five Pakistani nationals inside Afghanistan.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasneem Aslam in a statement said the Afghan Deputy Head of Mission was called and handed over a demarche, conveying Pakistan’s serious concern over the brutal killing of five Pakistani nationals in Afghanistan.

The spokesperson said the Government of Afghanistan has been requested to hold an investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice. “Our deepest sympathies and condolences go to the families of the victims,” she said. Bullet-riddled bodies of five Pakistanis, who were kidnapped in Afghanistan about two months back and killed a few days ago, were handed over to Pakistani officials at the Torkham border post on Wednesday. Relatives of the deceased had said that gunmen kidnapped nine Pakistanis, belonging to Charsadda district, in Mamand area of Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province about two months ago. One of the kidnapped men, Lehaz Gul, was later freed, apparently because he was too old, they said. The whereabouts of two other missing men are still not known.
